Welcome
Welcome to the Bible 101 Class!
Teachers: Mary Elizabeth Hanchey, Sarah Jobe
Have you ever wondered, how we got our Bible…what standards were used to identify writings as “Holy Scripture”...whether some passages are more reliable than others…what can we learn from the Old Testament... what to do with Paul...why is John so different from the other gospels?
Explore these and other questions as we engage specific Biblical passages. This Spring we are continuing our study of the Old Testament with Joshua, Judges, and Ruth. We will welcome Dr. Thea Portier-Young from Duke Divinity School to our class on April 18 to help us struggle with the theme of Holy War and what archeology can teach us about that theme in Joshua. We’re flexible about what and how we study and will enjoy finding our way together as a community. We welcome drop-ins, including those who must come and go due to teaching responsibilities. Please feel free to CONTACT US ANY TIME! Mary Elizabeth Hanchey, 490-0082, mehanchey@hotmail.com Sarah Jobe, 768-7541, sarah.jobe@duke.edu Bookmarks
